Former Rutgers big man to England's top league
A prized prospect, Alpha Diallo (Harlem, N.Y.) ended his recruitment on Tuesday with a commitment to Providence College.
The 6'6" shooting guard is expected to replace former standout Kris Dunn as the Friars' playmaker of the future. A gifted scorer, Diallo attended Abraham Lincoln High School (CO) before taking his talents to the NEPSAC and Brewster Academy (N.H.) this past season.
He averaged 16.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game as the Bobcats finished 25-10 overall. Providence (24-11, 10-8 Big East) advanced to this year's NCAA Tournament, eventually falling to runner-up North Carolina in the 2nd round.
Fordham University commit Chuba Ohams signed his National Letter of Intent with the Rams on Friday.
The ceremony was held at Wadleigh High School, where Ohams starred before departing for Putnam Science Academy (CT) this year.
Ohams, a local product, joins a talented Fordham program in 2016-17.
Emile Blackman is spending his final year of eligibility in the ultra-competitive Atlantic 10 Conference with the Duquesne Dukes.
The high-flyer spent two seasons at Niagara after transferring from Division II LIU Post. The Long Island native averaged 15.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game for the Purple Eagles in 2015-16.
Blackman is slated to suit-up immediately for the Dukes next season.
