The Bitcoin Classic hosted their two-day, adult basketball event in New York City this month. The eight-team tournament featured local players and pros across the East Coast. Teams competed at the world famous Rucker Park in Harlem, NY.
In their first game, Team Gotham Hoops went back-and-forth with the Knickerbocker All-Stars. Gotham Hoops trailed in the second half before going on a 20-4 run to aid a 78-69 victory.
On Championship Day at The Rucker, Gotham Hoops faced Boston-based Citi Team. The two teams exchanged baskets throughout the first half as Gotham Hoops went into the break with a five-point advantage.
The Citi Team secured enough stops-and-scores down the stretch to hold on to win, 56-47. The Citi Team then went on to defeat Pedro’s Posse, a Florida-based team, in the Final to win the $20K Bitcoin prize.
Team Gotham Hoops participants were Junior Saintel (Stony Brook ‘18), Michael Balogun (Arkansas Tech ‘15), Elijah Bailey (New Haven ‘21), Raiquan Clark (Long Island ‘20), Jaelyn Johnson-Coston (Florida Memorial ‘17), Daniel Dingle (Temple ‘17), Pauly Paulicap (West Virginia ‘22) and Moussa Kone (Hofstra ‘15).
