LONDON, ON -- A pivotal Game 5 match-up in these NBLC Finals came down to the homestretch on Monday. The London Lightning, winners of two straight, lit up the nets early and often in this one. They controlled the tempo throughout the first half, eventually taking a commanding 60-48 lead into the locker rooms.
The Hurricanes were able to survive a quick run by their opponents, countering with an aggressive scoring spree of their own. The visitors would go onto cut their deficit to single-digits in the final quarter but were unable to finish the job. Led by a bevy of big-time baskets by Doug Herring Jr., the Lightning would go onto win their third consecutive game in this series.
Herring Jr. was the Game MVP with 27 points (10-15 FG; 3-6 3PT; 4-4 FT) and six assists. Julian Boyd added 22 points and nine rebounds as London now leads the series, 3-2. The Hurricanes were anchored by Tyrone Watson's 32-point outing.
