HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Island Garden played host to the AAU Division I District Championships. The annual showcase featured a plethora of future stars from the New York City-area and beyond.
Among standouts were Dontae Walker (Bronx, N.Y.), a 6-foot-3 rising freshman. Walker played an age group up in the event, showing true potential as a formidable forward. His solid build, high-motor and nose for the ball caused havoc for opponents throughout the weekend.
Joseph Medlin (Queens, N.Y.), a class of 2022 prospect, joined Walker as a top performer. Standing in at 6-foot-1, Medlin dominated the paint for the New York Rens with his ability to score, rebound and block shots. He displayed a physical prowess and soft-touch in the lane.
Another prospect who churned in a solid outing was Jayden Reid (Long Island, N.Y.) of the New York Gauchos. The rising 7th grader scored at will as Reid's trickery with the ball was enough to free himself from defenders for shots such as pull-up jumpers and lofty floaters.
