O'Quinn inks 1-year deal with Pacers

O'Quinn inks 1-year deal with Pacers

Former New York Knick Kyle O'Quinn has reached a 1-year deal with the Pacers for $4.5 million, per nydailynews.com. Following a strong 2017-18 season in which the veteran center averaged 7.1 points and 6.1 rebounds over 77 games, O'Quinn opted for free agency, declining his $4.25 million player option with New York.

The Knicks were in play for the Queens native despite the opt-out, but the team could not afford to bring him back after using most of their Mid-Level Exception on swingman Mario Hezonja and 2nd Round pick Mitchell Robinson.

Though O'Quinn will be enjoying a modest pay-raise with Indiana, the real prize will be joining a team poised to return to the playoffs, as well as a roster that features the likes of Victor Oladipo and the newly-signed Tyreke Evans. O'Quinn has an opportunity to log major backup minutes at center, whilst serving as a mentor for Myles Turner, a rising star at the big man position.
