Maker Boosts NBA Draft Stock
He's the Best Kept Secret in this 2018 Class
As his surname serenades with NBA front offices Matur Maker is starting to pave his own lane. Matur, the younger brother of Milwaukee's Thon, is ready to jump from prep to the pros.
The 6-foot-9 play-maker posted monster numbers at Mississauga Prep (ON) in 2017-18. Maker rocked stat-sheets with a resounding 25.7 points, 14.5 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, 2.8 assists and 1.9 steals per game. His dominance throughout the states -- in both high school and grassroots competitions -- earned recognition from NBA teams.
In early 208 Maker and Mississauga Prep traveled to Long Island for the Inaugural Gotham Hoops Classic. The Sydney, Australia native performed brilliantly in back-to-back games with two Western Conference scouts in-attendance.
Since the conclusion of the season Maker has worked out for the Minnesota Timberwolves (No. 20, 48 picks), Cleveland Cavaliers (No. 8) and Los Angeles Lakers (No. 25, 47). He did not participate in this years combine but accepted an invitation for the recent NBA Global Camp in Italy.
Maker has since scheduled visits with a third of the league in the days leading up to the draft on June 21st. The 20-year old prospect will workout for the Milwaukee Bucks (No. 17); Atlanta Hawks (No. 3, 19, 30, 34); Washington Wizards (No. 15, 44), Los Angeles Clippers (No. 12, 13), Golden State Warriors (No. 28), Orlando Magic (No. 6, 35, 41), Houston Rockets (No. 46), Denver Nuggets (No. 14, 43, 58), Oklahoma City Thunder (No. 53, 57), Dallas Mavericks (No. 5, 33, 54) and Brooklyn Nets (No. 29, 40, 45), per Mississauga Prep assistant coach Sky Smith.
